Mapping: potential climate change effects at a glance
As the poet Dorothea Mackellar wrote, Australia is ironically a country of both ‘droughts and flooding rains’… a two-edged challenge which will only increase with time. In Adelaide’s West, longer heatwaves pose safety concerns for the vulnerable in our community, while simultaneously, as average rainfall decreases, rainfall intensity increases, resulting in the threat of flash flooding. And the ‘jewel-seas’ continue to rise.
The AdaptWest Climate Change Adaptation Plan uses maps to provide at-a-glance visualization of how these very different but inter-related developments will impact on our community.
